Consistent, reliable service

This is my third year using ClearCaptions, and they are consistently good. I originally got the home caption phone, and then added the mobile captioning service last year. Both have worked reliably since day one. The captions on my landline phone are always accurate, and the mobile app is just as dependable. I've had to call customer service once or twice over the years for small questions, and they were always helpful. It's nice to know I can count on them for my communication needs.

ClearCaptions Blue phone is great!

I just received my ClearCaptions Blue phone and it's fantastic! The setup was so easy, and the captions are really clear. I've been struggling to hear on calls for a while, and this has made such a difference. I can finally talk to my grandkids without constantly asking them to repeat themselves. The touchscreen is very responsive too. I'm definitely going to recommend ClearCaptions to my friends who have hearing loss!

Are they strict about what kind of hearing loss qualifies you? I wear hearing aids but sometimes I still miss things on calls.

J Justin Anderson 1 week ago
As long as a medical professional certifies that you have hearing loss that makes using a standard phone difficult, you should be good. It's for anyone who needs visual support for calls.

Nah, it's not about being 'deaf' or anything super severe. If you miss parts of conversations on the phone because of hearing loss, that's usually enough. Your hearing aids show you need assistance.

Do I need a doctor's note or something super official to qualify for this? My hearing's not what it used to be but I haven't seen an audiologist in a while.

E Eric S. 1 week ago
You do need some kind of professional confirmation, but it doesn't always have to be an audiologist. A doctor can sign off on it too. They have a form on their site I think.

Yeah, a doctor's signature is usually enough. Just needs to confirm you have hearing loss that makes captioned calls helpful. No full audiology report needed usually.

I'm looking at CaptionCall too, anyone use both or have thoughts on how ClearCaptions compares?

K Kyle Taylor 1 month ago
I've only used ClearCaptions, but my friend has CaptionCall. Both do pretty much the same thing. I think it comes down to which phone model you like better, or maybe their specific installer in your area.

I tried CaptionCall before switching to ClearCaptions. For me, ClearCaptions' mobile app was better, and I liked the touchscreen on their home phone more. But functionally, they're super similar. Both are solid.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows how long it usually takes to get the phone after you apply? I'm in New York City.

O Olivia Harris 3 weeks ago
Mine took about 2 weeks from when I first applied to when it was installed. I'm in Arizona though, so NYC might be different for installation scheduling.

Yeah, I think it depends on their local installers. My mom got hers in like 10 days in Florida. The application itself was pretty quick though.

My internet isn't super fast, will that be an issue for the phone? I've got DSL, not fiber.

D Danielle L. 1 month ago
As long as it's a stable connection, it should be fine. It doesn't need a ton of bandwidth for the captions. It's not like streaming 4K video.

Nah, my parents have pretty basic internet and their ClearCaptions phone works perfectly. It's just text data, so it's not a huge drain.
